Fixed Operations Manager: Judy Jobse, Richport Ford

Judy has been working in the automotive sector for 26 years and has been working as a fixed operations manager for 10 years.

What attracted you to a career in the automotive industry?
I think the car business is very exciting. After a short time, I realized that no two days are ever the same. When your tech fixes a difficult vehicle or you help a customer out it is very rewarding. It happens every day in this business.

What do you like the most about your job?
I love my staff and they are like family to me. I also love my interactions with my customers. This job is all about building relationships and that’s what I love.

What kind of an environment do you work in?
I work in a great environment and I believe you have to want to come to work every day. We have fun at work. Things can get stressful so I create an atmosphere my staff feels comfortable in and we have fun.

How do you feel about the future of the automotive sector?
The cars are changing dramatically and the technology is getting crazy. Service advisors and managers are going to require more education because customers research their vehicles and know a lot before they even set foot in a dealership.

What kind of education or training did you obtain before starting your career in the automotive sector?
I have no formal education and learned on the job. I started out as a cashier and eventually did every job in the service department.
